Only three cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed across the state in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,033, with 926 people recovered.
Over 1,000 tests have been completed since yesterday bringing the total number of tests conducted to 99,527.
Queensland Minister of Health Stephen Miles said the results we are seeing today is the result of following restrictions two weeks ago.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced yesterday that the state will start to ease some restrictions beginning this coming weekend, including some recreational activities.
Queenslanders will now be able to go shopping for leisure, sunbath on the beach and enjoy outdoor outings with their household with the exception of one other person.
Social distancing rules still apply, and Queenslanders are still unable to travel more than 50km from their home address.
Ms Palaszczuk is encouraging elderly to take scenic drives and families to enjoy picnics and bushwalks.
“I’m trying to be flexible, I’m trying to listen to what the public is saying.
“I think, too, for people’s mental health, this is going to be greatly appreciated and don’t think I don’t under¬estimate how people are really doing it tough at home during these times.”
“it is going to be really important that people practice their social distancing, so once again I ask Queenslanders in the lead up to next weekend, think about the guiding principles and make sure you are abiding by those social distancing rules,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
Ms Palaszczuk also announced that anyone intentionally spreading the disease to front line workers include health staff, police and shop assistance will face a penalty of up to $13,000.
Mr Miles said that the state will be reviewing these eased restrictions again in two weeks to see if the infection rate rises.
The Sunshine Coast case total sits on 73 while Noosa’s total remains on 15 total cases.
