Seniors Walk of Honour

As the Year 12 Class of 2025 set down their pens for the final time, a sense of completion washed over them. Their long journey with Good Shepherd was drawing to a close. The first of many final-week events was the Walk of Honour, a powerful, heart-stirring tradition that celebrated every step that brought them to this moment. Excitement and anticipation filled the air as parents gathered to witness the entire student body line the pathways, cheering loudly and creating a moment rich in pride, gratitude, and hope for the future.

Among the cheers, there were also quiet tears from younger siblings and friends in other year levels as they high-fived the passing graduates and gifted them flowers, a touching reminder of how deeply connected students are across the College. It was a powerful affirmation of the community that has supported, shaped, and celebrated them every step of the way.

Mrs Jo Foley, Head of Senior Years Students, shared her reflection on the tradition:

“Watching students from Prep through to Year 11 rise to their feet and celebrate our Year 12s is truly powerful. It reminds them, and us, that they’ve been part of something bigger than themselves. It’s a moment that stays with you long after the clapping stops.”

A cherished rite of passage, the Walk of Honour invites Year 12 students to pause and reflect on the years that have shaped them. For many graduates, this was a full-circle moment, returning to the place where their journeys began as curious young learners stepping into new worlds.

Head of Middle Years Students, Mrs Nicole Drew who has guided the Class of 2025 from their early years and whose son Charlie is graduating, shared a heartfelt message:

“It has been a privilege to watch these students grow, not just academically, but as people of character, resilience, and compassion. Letting them go is bittersweet. While we are excited for everything that awaits them, we will miss the daily moments, the laughter, and the relationships built over so many years. They are ready for the world, even if part of them wishes they had just a little more time.”

Good Shepherd Principal, Mr Anthony Dyer, spoke about the emotional significance of the occasion, “It’s a rare and special sight to see the whole school united in honouring our graduates. The Walk of Honour captures the essence of our College community, supportive, proud, and hopeful. We have every confidence that these young people will forge meaningful paths and make a difference in their own unique ways.”

Though tears were shed by students, parents, teachers, and younger peers alike, the overwhelming feeling across the College was one of excitement, pride, and possibility. The Class of 2025 may be closing their chapter at Good Shepherd, but they will forever remain part of the GSLC family, where their story began and where they will always have a home.
