Masks on for Noosa

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has called on Queenslanders to once again mask up.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has called on Queenslanders to once again mask up to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The discovery of additional cases of community transfer in Queensland and the risk of the highly infectious Delta strain has prompted a return to increased restrictions including the use of masks.

The Premier said the measures will be in place for the next two weeks.

“These are important measures we know will work because they have worked before,” the Premier said.

“I’m calling on everyone to wear a mask and help us stop the spread of this new strain and keep our community safe.”

Masks are required whenever you leave home including on public transport, in taxis and rideshare, and in shopping centres and supermarkets, hospitals and aged care facilities, restaurants and cafes, churches and indoor workplaces (where social distancing isn’t possible).

Other restrictions include: only 30 people are allowed in your home; wedding ceremonies and funerals can have 100 attendees; and indoor venues are allowed one person per four square metres.

Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson urged Sunshine Coast residents and visitors to check Queensland Health’s website regularly for updates, stay COVID alert and register for vaccination if you are eligible to be vaccinated and have not already registered.

“Contact tracing is underway following recent confirmed cases in the community and information on the Queensland Health website will be updated as it comes to hand,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“If you were in any of the identified locations, available on Queensland Health’s website, please isolate and get tested.

“Also, if you have already had your first vaccination and are due to receive your second dose, it is critical that you follow up and get the second vaccination.

“We’re in this together and the Sunshine Coast has done a great job keeping our community safe so far, let’s keep it up.

“I urge every member of our community and every person visiting our Sunshine Coast to be COVID-19 alert to help keep us all safe.”
