Noosa Heads SLSC awarded Best Club on Sunshine Coast

Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Supporters Club took out the prestigious Best Club on the Sunshine Coast award at the Keno and Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence on Tuesday 26 March.

The award recognises the community club that has delivered consistent, outstanding service and facilities to promote their objectives, and provide the highest level of social and entertainment facilities for their members and the community.

Clubs Queensland CEO Doug Flockhart said this award is a major achievement for the club and that they should be extremely proud.

“In my 10 years as CEO of Clubs Queensland, I have been fortunate to have observed Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Supporters Club go from strength to strength,” he said.

“Winning the Best Club Sunshine Coast is a fitting tribute for this club, who are no strangers to the podium having won a number of Awards for Excellence across a wide range of categories since the Awards began 20 years ago.

“The club is very much the ‘heart ‘of their community, reinvesting heavily into the club’s surf life-saving activities and equipment – to the tune of over $3.5million last year.”

The sole purpose of operating the Noosa Surf Life Saving Supporters Club is to financially support the operation of the lifesaving services provided on Main Beach, Noosa. This year the club was able to donate almost $3.5 million to the Surf Lifesaving Club and more than $80,000 in cash and $100,000 in in-kind donations to community groups and charities.

“The Awards judges were particularly impressed with the way the club engages with its community and how it has created an intergenerational meeting place for the Noosa community,” Mr Flockhart said.

“This type of relationship with members is what makes community clubs so valuable.”
