Swing for a cure

Imagine more than 100 people on Headlands golf course all working to help raise awareness and much needed funds to help slow, stop, and find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease (PD).

That’s what will take place on Friday 14 March during the Swing for a Cure Golf fundraiser event at Headland Golf Course in Buderim.

Every dollar raised at this event will go directly to Shake It Up Australia to help fund research for PD, and they hope to raise $10,000.

Shake it Up Australia is the leading non-government funder of PD research across multiple institutes in Australia.

Parkinson’s is the second most common neurological disease in Australia after dementia.

The disease affects an estimated 10 million individuals worldwide and about 100,000 in Australia.

The Sunshine Coast has more than 2000 people directly affected by Parkinson’s and another 12,000 people linked, as carers, family, wives, husbands, and partners. Some as young as just 20 years of age.

The day is open to everyone, with an interest in PD, golf, having fun, networking, team building, or just wanting to help out.
