Noosa gymnasts to represent region

The competitive gymnastics season is about to get underway for gymnasts from the Cooroy Gymnastics Club.

In the first event for the year, Cooroy will be sending a team of four gymnasts to the South East Queensland Senior Regional Championships to be held at the Commonwealth Games venue at Coomera on the Gold Coast.

The senior competition hosted by the Gold Coast Gymnastics Club is for gymnasts competing from level 7 to 10 for both men and women.

The Cooroy team of four gymnasts includes two Queensland team members from 2018, including the current Australian level 7 all around and parallel bar champion.

The team of Dean Chandler, Lyam Chandler, Finlay Jones and Flynn Mackeown will compete on all six apparatus at the event, with three boys competing level 8 and Flynn competing in the level 7 open division.

Team coach Jeff Ferrer has been meticulous in their physical and skill preparation, and is hoping for big things from the boys.

The South East Queensland Senior Regional Championships will be the only chance for the gymnasts to compete before the upcoming Queensland State Championships which is to be held in April.

Queensland State Championships will also be the selection event for the Australian Championships held in May. The whole team will be pushing for selection into the State team.
