Ladder leaders flex their muscles

Top of the table Redlands have out-energized the Roccoco Noosa Tigers in the second half in appalling conditions at Weyba Rd on Saturday. With weather predictions of continued rain and south East winds correct, the game could only be described as a ‘heavy slog’ with stoppages and boundary throw-ins prevalent throughout the day. In a game of two halves, it was the local boys who started well and probably should have been further than a goal in front at half time through the clearance efforts of Ogden, Gaul, Horbury and first timer Sam Willoughby who certainly made an input. However Redlands responded in the second half and completely took over the clearance dominance from stoppage to run away 25 point victors and keep their top spot on the 2025 QAFL ladder.

Plenty of good players for the Tigers with Will McKenzie across half back a constant for the entire four quarters.

Cooper Ogden found the footy 26 times and seemed to relish the heavy conditions. Nathan Horbury continued his stellar season with another classy display where along with Ben McNiece their poise and decision making terrific.

Mav Pettigrove also gathered plenty of the footy as well as laying 13 tackles as he also continues a pretty rich vein of form. As mentioned earlier Willoughby will be a great asset to the Tigers on ball brigade and tall winger Charlie Bowes was also among the tigers best.

The Ressies went down in a thriller in a much improved showing whilst Brainy’s boys bounced back onto the winners list with a superb third quarter the highlight of the colts game.

Our Senior Women had the bye but it’s all back on at Weyba rd again this Saturday as our four Senior teams take on Gold Coast heavyweights, the Broadbeach Cats.

Games are at the following times:

10.30am – Reserves

1.00 pm – Senior Men

3.45pm- Colts

5.45pm – Senior Women

It’s our ‘old boys’ day on the lawn this Saturday after already completing two of their four fixture games for the season. I’m sure they are enjoying the rest and will thoroughly enjoy the day.

And a massive shout out to all those who helped organise and attend our first Predidents Luncheon for 2025 last week with John Longmire an outstanding presence and speaker. Our next Luncheon is on 7 June with former Magpie superstar Peter Daicos our special guest.

Good luck to all those teams representing the mighty Noosa Tigers this weekend!
