Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club launched the 2023 season of Sailability, its disabled sailing program, early this month.
Now in its 12th year, Sailability offers a fun, safe and welcoming environment where people with disability are accepted and encouraged to participate in, and enjoy the sport of sailing.
Sailing is truly for everyone, and Sailability offers an additional level of support, an established network of volunteers, and equipment to assist people of all abilities to get into sailing. It is an international program first introduced to Australia in the 1990s, and offered at Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club since 2010.
Sailability organisations are not-for-profit, volunteer-based, and through the activity of sailing, they enrich the lives of people of all abilities – the elderly, the financially and socially disadvantaged as well as people with physical challenges.
