There will be celebrations at the Caza Brazilian Jiu0Jitsu Club in Noosaville. Reason. Samson Barton won the bronze medal in the Juvenile 2/Male division at the Brazilian jiu-jitsu Federation World No Gi Championships in Las Vegas, and this, featured about 4,500 competitors.

He won three matches by submission before losing in the quarterfinals to the eventual gold medalist.

Training under the special guidance of Chief Instructor (Sensei) Yoshie Hasegawa for more than a year, he received his Blue Belt in December 2023. Such has been his devotion and his acceptance of the strict discipline required once the students start to advance to higher grading in the world of martial arts, his success has been nothing short of outstanding.

His achievements speak for themselves, with the year 2025 being one to envy: winning a total of four gold medals while competing throughout Australia. His success saw him win the following: the Australian National Championship in Melbourne, Pan Pacific Championship, Melbourne, Queensland State Championships in Brisbane, Grapple Mania 17 (pro fights) Melbourne. All his fights were won by submission.

Noosa is also notable for the outstanding g achievements of those involved in World Shotokan Karate. Under the guidance of esteemed instructors such as Bryan Dukas, 9th Dan Black Belt at Karate Noosa, and Yoshi Hasegawa, Chief Instructor at CAZA Brazilian Kiu-Jitsu Club, the standard of martial arts in our community is recognised as world class.
