Tigers downed but still promising signs

The Roccoco Noosa Tigers went down to ladder leaders and the undefeated Morningside by 7 goals last Saturday in Brisbane in what was a high speed and entertaining game of State League footy.

The first half was a tremendous battle with Noosa leading at the main break. In fact early in the 3rd quarter Noosa edged ahead by 19 points before the Panther juggernaut exploded.

Morningside booted the next 7 goals to put the game to bed and remain undefeated and right now the most likely challenger to stopping Aspley from a three peat!

Much to like once again for the Noosa boys whose energy and pressure commitment is not waning.

Mitch Conn again was in everything and continues his stellar season whilst ruckman Maccy Johnstone never gives up and physical approach has plenty of the Noosa faithful smiling.

Nathan Horbury too produced another classy game across half back with big man Rhys Free impressing down back also on his return from injury.

Riley O’Dwyer once again played his team role to the letter whilst big Jono Freeman bagged 5 in another super impressive display from the ex AFL local product.

The Tigers, who sit in 8th position are set again this Saturday to face the 6th placed Redlands in a must win game!

The Noosa Senior women whilst going down to a more skillfully efficient Morningside drew nothing but praise from coach Tony ’Tunza’ Brennan.

“I couldn’t fault their effort and energy at all. We are improving every week. I mean 3 weeks ago I think we went into our inside 50 only half a dozen times and now we are getting in there 16 or 17 times. We just lack the finishing skills at present but our energy and grit is just fantastic,” he said.

And of the positives were the performances of teenagers Lucy Towndrow who controlled her wing all night, Zoe Miriklis who continues to find the footy and deliver it with purpose and of course the Ladewig girls who are just dynamic to watch around the forward line and bring an excitement to every Noosa game.

Once again champion on baller Ragen Mills was one of the best in another lion hearted performance.

The Noosa Women make the long trek down to the Gold Coast on Saturday afternoon where they will take on Broadbeach!
