Under 7 White
Under 7 White played an excellent Women in League round against Caboolture. As always, the boys turned up jumping out of their skin. This enthusiasm was then transferred on to the footy field.
Lachlan Ward, Bailey Hozier, Cooper Drinnan and Sam Proctor all did a sensational job handling the dummy half and first receiver roll. The rest of the team were great in keeping the ruck area clear.
Lachlan Ward scored a fabulous try from the starting tap. Lukas Byers turned up ready to tackle today and deservedly took home Player of the Match.
All the boys were awesome in defence and attack today.
Under 7 Yellow
Under 7 Yellow played a hard fought game against Stanley Rivers.
Kaleb Byers earned Player of the Match for his hard runs up the middle gaining plenty of ground for his team. Keayahn Brim put his body on the line, making devastating tackles against the opposition. Kyrone O’Donnell, Matthew Christensen and Tyran Malone scored outstanding tries but, more importantly, showed guts and courage in the way they led with their tough defence.
Under 7 Blue
It was the best game Under 7 Blue has played all season and every player gave everything they had from start to finish.
Nathan Jones earned Player of the Match for a great try in the corner and putting in a gutsy effort. Outstanding attacking from Asher Anderson saw him score plenty of tries today and not to be outdone, Taj Brumley matched him with enthusiasm and energy, especially in his defence.
No Stanley Rivers player was safe from the hard hitting Jaxon Smith who showed textbook tackling, rattling bones and shaking heads in disbelief at the way he is improving week after week.
Under 8
Another outstanding display of footy by our little legends today.
They played two games against two Stanley Rivers teams. The boys ran the ball very hard with some great runs from Cohyn North and Joe Dwyer. Also some strong hit ups from Nathaniel Noe and Ziah Clements.
The team worked really hard in defence with some great tackling displays from Josh Palmer, Hamish Cook and Benny Graf, also a great display of ball running from Jed Danton, all round a very impressive game from all of our boys.
Such a pleasure to coach this great group of kids. If these boys can stick together as a team for years to come, then the mighty Noosa Pirates are in very good hands.
Under 9 White
The boys played Caloundra, in a return clash of last week’s game. There were some big runs from the forwards and some hard chasing from the backs. Coach Isaac reminded the boys that they need to stick to their instructions, and to be more enthusiastic off the line.
A hard encounter was served up from the Caloundra boys, and Player of the Match went to Kaleb Hart for his great tackling, where he threw himself into many tackles without any fear.
Under 9 Blue-
It was great to have a game of footy at our home grounds this weekend. The side took on a very tough and well drilled Stanley Rivers team and had to try very hard to remain in the game.
Mitch Gleeson was a tackling machine, with the support of Ryan-Fielding Smith. Nathaniel Noe did lots of strong hit ups, and it was great to see Kye Brumley having a few good runs and even offloading. The forwards Tammin Lange and Liam Robson-Suares took the ball up hard and proved hard for the opposition to tackle. Joel Broomhall was strong and consistent in all aspects of the game today, earning himself Player of the Match.
It’s important for all players to come to training week after week, to learn and practise skills which are vital to playing the game. This then makes it easier for the kids at Saturday’s match to know and understand the ‘set moves’ which have been learnt at training the previous week.
Thanks to the dads who helped out with the game, their support of this team is very much appreciated.
Kye Brumley who was touch judge in the U9 white game did well.
Under 10 White
Caloundra travelled to Noosa to play Noosa White this weekend.
The boys are starting to work together as a team with Ty, Jesi and Cooper trying really hard to stop their opponents. For Jesi’s second week of footy he did a great job of tackling and running for his team and was awarded Player of the Match for his efforts.
Thanks also, to all the Women-in-League.
Under 10 Blue
The Blue boys were at home this week against a tough Stanley Rivers side.
Their tackling was awesome this week with Ben U, Curtis, Dan and Harry stopping the opposition. Jaxon did more than one epic run down the field where no-one has a hope of catching him earning him Player of the Match.
Thanks to all the Women-in-League.
Under 11 Gold
After a big week of training the Under 11 Gold boys were up against a very strong Caloundra team. Caloundra scored the first points quickly after the start of the game, but the Pirates fought back and were ahead by the 12th minute. Caloundra had some very fast players and by half time they were leading 18-6.
The coach must have had a good word to the boys, because after the break the Pirates came back hard, some great moves forward from Javier Iriondo, Lachlan Flett and the unstoppable Francis Tinney, combined with some fantastic defence from Aston Steele, Taj Johnstone and Liam Trevanion. But the star of the day was Jackson Beaumont, taking all four tries for the team. The final whistle blew with the score 22-20 to the Noosa Pirates.
Under12A
In blustery conditions down at Kawana, the side lost the toss and in turn had to run into a 20-point wind in the first half. The first half turned out to be a real arm wrestle. Early on Kawana had all the possession, but we hung in there through some great commitment in defence. Ethan Condon was a stand out as usual, making all his tackles count. The boys attitude with the ball was very impressive as the side completed well over 80 per cent in the first half.
A costly one-on-one miss saw Kawana score a length of the field try, 4-0.
Nearing half time, the side was on the attack, thanks mainly to some big runs from Willem Lindsay, P J Hill and Kai Vincitorio and looking real good, until unfortunately a kick went wide which saw Kawana beat the side wide and yet score another length of the field try, 10-0.
Right on half time we spilt a ball on our line which saw Kawana score out wide on the siren. Halftime 14-0.
With the wind behind their backs in the second half, the game plan was simply complete with sets and kicks long. The side stuck to this early which resulted in a nice try to Dan Sinclair. 14-6.
Looking good and the side was all over them, but a cheap penalty and ill-discipline led to another Kawana try, 20-6.
Now the side had to play catch up football, which goes two ways.
Unfortunately for the side today, it went ugly as it did not complete the sets with long kicks and Kawana seemed to get the 50/50 calls. The side had to work the ball out of its own half and it handed over the ball early in the tackle count due to bad ball security which led to another Kawana try off the scrum, 24-6.
Not to be outdone, Ethan Condon finished the game strongly with numerous solid runs which resulted in Floyd Nowill running all but the length of the field off a brilliant pass from Dylan Cross which led to the side’s second try to PJ Hill. 24-12. The side finished on a high note by denying Kawana anymore points.
Best on grounds was Dylan Cross, best tackler Ethan Condon, most hit ups William Lindsay.
Special mention to Dan Sinclair who is having surgery on Tuesday to fix his ear drum.
Next week the side is up against Caboolture A’s on Friday at 6.30pm.
Under 12B
Confidence is brimming in the Under 12 Blue team as the boys begin to learn what it’s like to play possession football.
Coach Paul Dwyer asked the boys for their best efforts in the first 10 minutes and that’s exactly what he got. Noosa jumped out to a 20 – nil lead over Caloundra Black at the half way mark and kept the foot on the accelerator all through the second half.
A special mention this week goes to the effort of Aden Jenkins and Sam Dwyer.
Noosa would like to wish a speedy recovery to a few already injured Caloundra players.
Under 13A
The boys picked up where they left off last week with a dominant display in the first 20 minutes. Plenty of possession resulted in an early try to Lachlan Turner, who has made a huge improvement in his first season of Rugby League.
The Pirate boys kept the points coming with a try to Zane Keen. Beautiful “soft hands” from Jake Armitage to a hard running Oliver Spring resulted in more points. Jake provided several more opportunities with some smart ball play, but was let down by his runners either being too early, too late or on the wrong angle. If some options are given him, there will be more tries scored.
The Caboolture boys didn’t give up and came back into the game on the back of some alleged dubious calls by the the referee including a penalty try. The rest of the match became a see-sawing affair with both teams having their chance to close the game out. But a strong run and quick play by Marcus Hooper left a broken defensive line for Clyde Whitford to score the match winner.
Man of the Match went to Lachlan Turner whose attack on the wing is now as good as his defence and resulted in two tries. Also, Kurt Gadd, who arrived late to the game but topped the tackle count and scored a try in probably his best performance since taking up the game.
Other strong performers were Zane Keen, Sean Rodger and Clay Cussen who worked hard in defence and kicked a couple of goals. Lachlan Tindall gets better each week back in his favourite No 9 picking out lazy defenders and making plenty of metres.
Under 13B
Well what a difference a week makes in football. The boys were fantastic in defence and attack. Big thanks to Jake Smith for helping today and what a great job he did.
Jaiden Smith, Noah Clist, Corey Mackenzie and Owain Ritson, had outstanding games all running up the middle. Reef Carlile had the back line working great with tries coming from everywhere. Tries were scored by Chase McChesney, Toby Burton, Reef Carlile, Jake Smith, Jaiden Smith, Liam Hozier and two tries scored by Corey Mackenzie, who received the Encouragement Award.
Noah Clist was named Man of the Match.
