As country as they come

FROM Way Out West to Postcards from Saigon, James Blundell’s tracks have introduced a whole new generation of Australians to country music.
Lee Kernaghan calls him one of the greatest singer-song writers the nation has known. Adam Brand says he looked up to him as a youngster, and with a string of platinum albums and more than 15 awards to his name it’s easy to see why Australia can’t get enough of James Blundell.
In June, Noosa is invited to enjoy the rich vocals and outback narratives that have defined Blundell’s music in a career spanning more than 20 years.
“James Blundell is a legend of Australian music and we’re thrilled to welcome him to The J on 12 June,” venue co-ordinator Scott Braby said.
“His songs about Kimberley moons and the colours of the outback evoke powerful emotions for audiences who may not have experienced the special world Blundell inhabits.”
“Tickets will sell fast to his one-night-only show so James Blundell fans need to act quickly to secure a seat.”
The ARIA-award winning artist will serve up his trademark blend of great music and vocals, with a bit of cheek thrown in for good measure.
Noosa can look forward to favourite hits such as Way Out West, Postcards from Saigon, Time On His Hands, and his new single, Hills of Brisbane, which is climbing the country charts.
Blundell was the first Australian country artist to sign a major-label Nashville recording deal, paving way for the likes of Keith Urban and Kasey Chambers.
While a star in his own right, he has written tracks for many of his fellow Australian country music greats including Lee Kernaghan, Slim Dusty and Jimmy Little.
“This is a show James Blundell fans won’t want to miss. With nine CMAA Golden Guitar Awards to his name, the former cattle hand turned musician is an enduring name in Australian music who continues to develop his impressive following”.
Blundell will perform at The J on Friday 12 June, from 7.30pm. Tickets are $45 per person and $40 for concession and are available online at www.thej.com.au, at The J Box Office, 60 Noosa Drive, Noosa Heads, or by phoning 5329 6560 (a $3.50 telephone transaction fee applies).
