WITH the local soccer season now in full stride, Cooroora’s own club is enjoying some strong results on the field.
Away from the game itself, the club is enjoying some good news, too.
Last week, Cooroora United president Tony McCarthy welcomed the Cooroy Community Bank branch manager Geoff Edwards to training to celebrate the purchase of new playing and training equipment.
“It’s shaping up to be a great year for the Wombats. With numbers strong in the mini-roos, junior and senior ranks, the future is looking bright for the club and we’re on a real high right now,” Tony said.
“It’s been some time since we’ve had any equipment updated, so this assistance is definitely appreciated by the club and its members. Sponsors play a key role in supporting any club, but Geoff and his team have been side by side with our club for a number of years now, and we really appreciate the support.”
One of the other areas the club is looking to develop is better communication with its more than 250 club members. So the club is currently working on launching its very own app, providing up-to-date information to its players and coaches and promoting the club around the region.
“We’re excited about the project, and it’s the next step towards where we want the club to be. We’re a pretty tight, friendly club and its part of why our members love playing here,” Tony said.
For Geoff Edwards, it’s great to see the club growing and making good use of the bank’s financial support.
“I get out to training and games a few times each season. I love taking it all in, and it’s great to see so many enjoying playing the game they love and the support so many families, the club’s committee and so many other volunteers provide,” he said.
