Weather causes tennis washout

By ANNETTE ADSETT

THE semi-finals for Friday ladies tennis were a washout last Friday, but the Division 2 team Coolum Tourists are playing in their final at Maroochydore Friday 19 June – good luck.
The Travellers came in third by a very small margin, but since it was a washout, only the first and second teams in the division play the finals. We enjoyed an excellent year of competitive tennis and good fellowship and we look forward to another great season after the holidays.
The wet weather has been a disruption, but I noticed that 10 players still turned up Sunday to play between showers.
Unfortunately, the junior tennis was disrupted Friday night and the courts were too wet on Saturday. Even with the weather sites on the internet it is still hard to predict when the showers are likely to come. Apologies to the families who were inconvenienced by the late call off on Saturday.
Monday night was our regular tennis club meeting and before the meeting, we were able to show our local councillor the new meeting room, which he helped fund.
The school holidays are nearly here with a new term of tennis coaching. If you are interested in joining next term, please contact Andrew on 0421 391 505.
The social tennis will continue during the holidays and any visitors, seniors and juniors on holiday are welcome to join in. The courts have been busy lately during social tennis, so court hire is only available after 10am on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Don’t forget our night time social tennis on Monday and Thursday nights, starting at 7pm.
