WHILE the Nipper season may seem like a long way off, the dedicated Junior Activities team at Sunshine Beach Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) has been busy planning a bigger and better year.
Under the direction of Dave Gleeson, the 2014/’15 year was a stand-out year at Sunshine with Nipper numbers reaching capacity, success at Nipper carnivals never greater and traditional Nipper Sundays delivering both a fun and educational platform from which the clubs lifesaving ranks continue to fill.
There were a number of key factors that contributed to the enormous success at Sunshine last season; the great work of the coaches, led by local legend Max Pettigrove and supported by the much-loved Alex Austin cannot be underestimated.
The tremendous support of the management committee that continues to invest (as a priority) in the Nipper programme and, of course, the amazing parents and kids that continue to make this club such a great place to be a part of.
This coming season Sunshine Beach Nippers has decided to lift its previous cap on Nipper numbers, which will no-doubt see its success continue and enable many other local families to experience just how great this club really is. The much anticipated sign-on days will commence late August with the first Nipper Sunday in late September.
This however has not stopped the club from competing as over 20 Nippers last weekend competed in a Pool Rescue carnival at Kawana and with training numbers for this off-season programme never higher, the results for the pool rescue team at states and Aussies in the coming months, looks all but assured.
