THREE orchestras, 150 musicians, 110 choral voices and two soaring operatic soloists will join forces to present the symphonic spectacle of the Noosa Long Weekend Festival Orchestra on Sunday 26 July, at the Noosa Leisure Centre.
The Noosa Orchestra will join the Brisbane Symphony and Brisbane Chorale to form the super group of the festival.
The one-performance-only meeting of the minds and voices has been made possible thanks to a Regional Arts Development Fund grant from the Noosa Council.
This partnership will manifest in a performance of the commanding fifth movement from Gustav Mahler’s ‘Resurrection’ Symphony under the baton of celebrated conductor, Antoni Bonetti.
Featuring soloists mezzo-soprano Louise Dorsman, and soprano Melinda Janetski, the program will leap across the centuries to present the masterpieces of orchestral repertoire, including Spohr’s unique Symphony for Two Orchestras, Berlioz’s Le Corsaire Overture, Mussorgsky’s Dawn on the ‘Noosa’ River and the popular finale from Beethoven’s 5th Symphony.
