CCIQ Noosa president Sarah Fisher has announced she will stand down at the coming CCIQ annual general meeting in September.
Ms Fisher has been leading the chamber’s drive to encourage smart local growth for the region as well as engage local business owners to join the growing membership base.
Ms Fisher said she was very proud of the progress CCIQ Noosa had made during her two years as president, but it was time for her to focus on her business.
“I’m excited of where (the chamber) is heading,” she said.
“I had a fantastic team on the management committee who were brilliant at working together to achieve great things.
“But, my business needs me here. The chamber is going great guns and I’ve had a blast these past two years.”
Current vice-president Peter Chenoweth is expected to stand for election and Ms Fisher said she would offer her full support.
“I do believe Peter Chenoweth would make a fantastic president, should he be elected at the AGM, and I would certainly give him all my support,” she said.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIQ) offered their congratulations to Ms Fisher describing her presidency as highly successful.
“CCIQ would like to thank Sarah for her two years in the role and standing up for small business in Noosa,” CCIQ CEO Stephen Tait said.
“She has been a champion for the community and ensured Noosa has kept its iconic identity, yet been at the forefront on many innovative measures and initiatives for the region.”
Since the start of Ms Fisher’s presidency, CCIQ Noosa has amassed a list of achievements including hosting the Best Practice Forum that brought together some of Qld’s most progressive chambers, a feasibility study into a 1000-seat convention and performing arts centre; plus a business plan aimed at growing average revenue for Noosa’s 4500 small businesses.
Ms Fisher said she planned to remain on the board, if she was elected, but only in an advisory capacity.
The CCIQ Noosa AGM will be held on 8 September at the South Pacific Resort, Weyba Road, Noosaville, from 6pm. Nominations for the committee must be made before 25 August.
