TELEVISION personality and entrepreneur Steve Baxter was the guest speaker at a Digital Entrepreneurs networking event last week at the Noosa Boardroom.
The star of Channel Ten’s Shark Tank was welcomed like a rockstar by the crowd of 120 local entrepreneurs and businesspeople at the sell-out event.
His passion and commitment to the startup community came through loud and strong according to event organiser Anne Lawrence from Noosa Boardroom.
“He literally got mobbed by everyone wanting to talk with him,” Anne said.
“His speaking session went on for nearly an hour and he answered many questions about his personal journey both as a businessman and an investor, about startups and about the Australian tech-business landscape.
“He painted a convincing argument about the economic value of investing and supporting startups, who are distinct and different to small businesses and require special attention as they could literally become the next Google of the world.”
“He encouraged us all to get involved in the debate and contribute to our local communities to ensure we are innovating and investing in order to future-proof our region.”
Steve is also the founder of successful startup hub and tech co-working space, River City Labs, and a strong advocate for Queensland’s local, entrepreneurial ecosystem.
In addition to providing tips to entrepreneurs at the event, Steve spent the first part of the session with a group of teenagers from a range of schools, including Sunshine Beach High, helping inspire our region’s youth.
The event was co-hosted by both Noosa Council and Noosa Boardroom. RDA Sunshine Coast was also a sponsor of this event, as part of the ongoing commitment to the collaborative Digital Sunshine Coast project.
