THE spring race season is upon us and what better way to impress your friends than with a one-of-a-kind hat designed by a world-famous milliner whose clients include Lady Gaga.
Gympie local Cindy Vogels has donated a glorious piece of work to the Art with Heart collection as part of the Heart of Gold International Short Film Festival, to be held in Gympie from 8 to 11 October.
Fashionistas have the chance to win the stunning headpiece, along with nine other impressive art works as part of the Art with Heart raffle.
In partnership with Joolie Gibbs and her team at the Gympie Regional Gallery, Art with Heart has become a much-loved and anticipated feature of the Heart of Gold International Short Film Festival (HOGISFF).
The unique initiative is also the festival’s major fund-raiser and – in keeping with the Art with Heart theme – it ‘aorta’ be a golden opportunity to acquire some of the region’s most exceptional artworks.
Joolie said Art with Heart was an exciting chance to win one of 10 specially created works, donated from some of the region’s finest artists.
“The collection, which is currently on display in the front window of 42 Mary Street, Gympie, features paintings blooming with colour, lovingly crafted objects of intriguing shapes and textures, plus charming wearable pieces – whatever your style, Art with Heart has a piece to suit all manner of artistic tastes,” she said.
Cindy Vogels’ designer headwear recently featured in a show at London Fashion Week for the amazing Australian success story Wearing Memories by fellow Queenslander and jewellery designer Kiron Barui, and Cindy’s work will now travel to New York Fashion Week and then onto Paris.
The designer, who is also the Arts and Cultural Ambassador for the Gympie Region, said she was honoured to have contributed to this year’s uniquely created 10-piece Art with Heart selection.
“It is a huge honour given my art form is wearable … I believe this was something quite different from the traditional,” Cindy said.
The entire Art with Heart collection includes an oil painting from Meaghan Shelton, an acrylic work from Ken Gailer, a silver and peridot pendant from Christopher Hardwick and Cindy’s couture pillbox hat with gold biot feathers, plus so much more.
Tickets to the raffle are limited at 500, cost $20 each and can be bought either at the festival or by phoning 5482 4547.
The raffle will be drawn at the Heart of Gold international Short Film Festival on Sunday 11 October.
