THE annual Sunshine Beach Nippers family fun day took place under beautiful conditions last Sunday as hundreds of Nippers took on a Tough Mudder type event.
This annual event is organised to welcome back returning families to Nippers at Sunshine as well as new families.
After undertaking their regular nippers, the kids took to a variety of challenges both individually and as groups with huge rewards offered (mainly lolly snakes).
Before the main event got underway, the kids were attacked with flour bombs before being hit by water balloons thrown by an over excited group of parents.
During the main event, the kids undertook a variety of challenges that included removing an M&M from a plate of flour by using only their mouths, a speed test that saw the kids tackle a course that included swallowing a shot of baked beans, followed by eating a dry Weet-bix and finally consuming a shot of green custard, after which the kids where doused with a fire hose before being covered in flour.
The day was completed with a timely and much-needed swim before everyone enjoyed a family barbecue with all bread donated by the Tindal family at Bakers Delight in Noosa Junction.
This week, the events will be a little more traditional as the U8 to U15s head north to Rainbow Beach for the two-day Banjo Memorial carnival.
This is the only carnival of the year when the U8 to U10 age groups see the bigger kids in action and what a great weekend it will be for the Sunshine Beach Nipper Crew.
And finally the Sunshine Beach U14s are completing their Surf Rescue Certificates (SRC) over the next few weeks, which will see 25 new patrolling members put on the red and yellow for the remainder of the season.
This is the biggest group of SRCs ever put through Sunshine Beach SLSC, and is testament to the great Nipper programme run by Dave Gleeson and all the great helpers that make this club such a great place to be.
