Poppi’s out of the bottle

Peregian Springs ballerina Poppi Eccleston has joined the cast of the Ballet Theatre of Queensland’s upcoming production of Aladdin.

Eleven-year-old Poppi Eccleston from Peregian Springs has joined the cast of the Ballet Theatre of Queensland’s upcoming production of Aladdin.
Auditioning alongside hundreds of hopeful dancers from across the state, Poppi was successful in her audition for a junior role in the production and is the only junior cast member from the Sunshine Coast.
The St Andrew’s Anglican College student said she was surprised to be selected given the number of people auditioning.
“I auditioned for Aladdin mainly to gain experience with the audition process so that when I’m older I’ll be more comfortable doing them,” said Poppi.
“I was so surprised and excited to find out that I was successful,” Poppi said.
Poppi has been a ballet dancer for four years and her mum Penny said this achievement has been a great confidence booster.
“We are just so extremely proud of Poppi’s achievement.
“It is such a joy for a parent to see their child rewarded for all the hard work they put into their passion,” Penny said.
The Ballet Theatre Queensland’s production of Aladdin is showing at The Playhouse, QPAC in Brisbane from 20 to 23 January 2016.
