AN earthquake measuring 4.0 in magnitude was detected off the Queensland coast Friday morning 23 October, but it’s unlikely we would have felt anything.
According to Geoscience Australia’s earthquake division, the quake occurred offshore east of Fraser Island, about 6.45am, at a depth of 10km.
The division said the severity of shaking during an earthquake is affected by factors such as the depth of the earthquake, local geology and soil conditions.
