Highway works are bang on

Demolition will start on the old Bruce Highway Bridge from 7pm Friday 6 November.

FEDERAL Wide Bay MP and Minister for Infrastructure Warren Truss has announced the old Bruce Highway Bridge will soon be demolished to make way for the new Cooroy southern interchange.
For the duration of this weekend, 6-9 November, 24-hour demolition works on the existing Cooroy southern interchange bridge will be carried out, to allow construction to begin on two new, upgraded highway bridges.
Between 7pm Friday and 5am Saturday 7 November, access to the Myall Street underpass will be closed.
Northbound motorists leaving the highway for Cooroy will instead be detoured north via Holt’s road, through the interchange loop to a controlled highway crossing, allowing access through to Cooroy via Myall Road.
From 5am Saturday 7 November through to 5am 9 November, one lane of the Myall Street underpass will be in operation, with stop-go traffic controls allowing restricted access for northbound off-ramp and local Holts Road traffic only.
Northbound access to the highway from the temporary Holt’s Road on-ramp will be closed over this weekend.
“I wish to advise residents in the area while every effort will be made to reduce the impact of noise resulting from the demolition works, noise levels may exceed the recommended thresholds, particularly during the early hours of Saturday morning,” Mr Truss said.
“While efforts will be made to minimize any disruption caused by the road works, I encourage motorists to consider adding some extra time to their journey, to allow for any delays. I wish to thank motorists for their patience and co-operation while these important works are carried out.”
