Great bargains at twilight markets

AFTER months of planning, the Noosa Junction Association is proud to present the first Twilight Markets in Arcadia Street on Friday 20 November.
In typical Junction fashion, there will be something for everyone with a focus on local artists and artisan stalls, plus laid-back music and great food.
The markets will run from 5pm to 9pm and NJA president Carole Tretheway said the idea for the artisan night markets grew following the popularity of the Junction’s annual local food festival, Flava.
“The Twilight Markets really aim to show off the talent of our precinct and surrounding neighbourhood and give people a chance to grow and share their creative works,” she said.
“There will be a mix of fun, funk, fashion and folk. We have an eclectic range of stallholders, which we anticipate will grow as word gets around.”
Carole said the NJA hoped to create a market unique to the Sunshine Coast.
“There are also plans for a community art wall in the coming months and our local restaurants and bars are gearing up to welcome market visitors,” she said.
Carole said it was a great time to launch the markets as there was such a great vibe in the Junction.
“As a precinct, we’re ideally suited for a little laid-back live music and night-time entertainment,” she said.
To kick off the November market, popular musos Pablo and Jaryd will be performing; there’ll be entertainment for the kids and the Flava bar will be open for business.
“We hope it encourages people to explore the whole precinct, with some of our favourite stores considering staying open a little later,” Carole said.
The markets will be held in Arcadia Street on the third Friday of every month from 5pm to 9pm, with the next market on 18 December; just in time for Christmas.
Stallholders interested in being a part of the Twilight Markets should email market manager Judi on junctionflava@gmail.com or for more details go to www.facebook.com/noosajunction or www.junctionflava.com.au.
