BROTHERS Luke and Josh Poulton, both Good Shepherd Lutheran College students, recently arrived back from England after being selected for the West Ham United Academy UK Tour as members of an elite national squad of 20 from around Australia.
During the tour, the students were coached by international coaches and played 5-a-side football at Wembley Stadium against other elite academies including Manchester United Academy, West Ham United Academy, Wolverhampton Wanderers Academy and Scottish Youth Academy.
“This was a trip of a lifetime and was I was so excited to be a part of it,” said Luke, a Year 7 student at Good Shepherd.
His brother Josh, a Year 6 student at Good Shepherd, was equally excited, “I really enjoyed every part of the tour, but I especially enjoyed touring the Manchester United club rooms.”
Just prior to leaving for the UK, the boys were selected to attend a West Ham United Oceania National soccer camp at the Gold Coast during the September school holidays, following a player ID camp earlier in the year.
The intensive three day live-in camp at the Gold Coast attracted over 200 other boys from around Australia, with coaching greats such as Tony Carr, MBE, on hand to help the improve their skills.
