POMONA BOWLS
WITH the Pomona bowling green having its annual maintenance, there is not much activity at the club. However the clubhouse is still open so don’t forget to call in for a cooling drink and the restaurant is open from Wednesdays to Sundays serving succulent meals.
A reminder to all bowlers that the AGMs are being held in the next few weeks. Men’s Section 10.30am, Saturday 21 November; Ladies Section 10.30am, Wednesday 25 November; and the Club AGM 10am on Sunday 6 December.
Pomona and Cooroy recently played the 2015 final of the Walter Harris Shield match. The game was held at Cooroy, and at the commencement, Pomona had a 12 shot carry over advantage from the first leg held earlier this year at Pomona. With only a single shot win for Pomona over the seven rinks in the first game, there was everything to play for in the second game and with Cooroy getting a 6 on the first end on one rink their intentions were clear.
The momentum shifted Pomona’s way as the game progressed and resulted in a convincing win by the end of the game, ensuring Pomona retained the shield for another year.
Thank you Cooroy for your hospitality and a great afternoon of lawn bowls. It is always good for the game when rivals can play in such a friendly manner.
