ANOTHER afternoon of exciting junior touch footy action was on show last Wednesday.
The sounds of the starting siren and referees whistle signalled the start of the U10’s with Purple Strikers just coming home stronger in a close result against GSLC. Alexandra, Emily and Laicee had great games. Fire Girls and Pink Thunder showed off some touchdown scoring magic with Fire Girls taking the win this time around. Eilean, Bronte and Anna led the way for their teams. In arguably the game of the round, Amigos and GSLC played out a deadlocked result of five touchdowns apiece. While William, Kian, and Dan were deserved players of the day, congratulations to both teams on a great match.
The Cooroy Boys gave Dancers a run for their money in what was an entertaining game with Atticus, Ty and Fletcher having mighty games.
Our U12’s got underway with Sunshine Rippers taking every opportunity against Tewantin. Meka, Ruby and Lola all had terrific games for their teams. The Panthers fighting spirit was on display but they couldn’t quite match the attacking flair of the Warriors boys. Zac, Grace, Cade and Jorja all produced first rate performances. The Flaming Piggies continued on their winning way against the Banana Splits girls. Another whole game effort by the boys showed that they are going to be tough to stop this season. Georgia, Emma and Ethan all looked sharp during the match.
In the U14/16 division SBSHS were superb in defence and secured the points against GSLC. Playing well during the game were Lea, Tahli and Darcy. Wimmers proved to be too strong for St Brazza’s with Ashleigh, Pip and Jemima deserved team players of the game.
In a tight tussle NDSHS 8’s took the win against NDSHS 15’s with Ruby, Tenay and Charlie F playing strongly. NCC dug deep in their match against GSLC 2 but the GSLC boys remained composed to come away with the win. Hayden, Eli and Isamu all played well for their team mates.
The match between NDSHS 15’s (boys) and the younger NDSHS 7/8’s resulted in a win to the older boys this time around with Billy, Chance and Noah all having stellar games. GSLC 1 gave it their best but a polished performance from Baz saw them in front by a few touchdowns at full time with standout performances during the match from Lachlan F, Taj and Leo.
Until the next touchdown…
