ONE of the Cooroy Ri-con Christmas Tree stars will shine extra bright this year for a man who had a caring heart and a deep love for his family and community, Ron Scott.
A retired pharmacist, Ron passed away in October this year, and his wife Irene said a star on the tree was a fitting tribute for Ron “as he was my shining star and I deeply miss him”.
Ron re-established the pharmacy in Eumundi after a previous closure, and was involved in the building of the shopping complex where the pharmacy is still located today under new ownership.
He was a hardworking, dedicated man who was passionate about his profession and the health of his community and customers and always loved helping people.
Ron had a soft spot for animals and it wasn’t uncommon for local pooches to be found in the pharmacy enjoying the air-conditioning and a treat from the cookie jar.
Ron had been a member of the Queen Alexander Masonic Lodge at Cooroy and also the Cooroy Probus Club. He enjoyed travelling and gardening in his spare time.
Ron was a father, grand-father and great-grandfather to 20 children. He was a caring, loving family man who was always happy with a wacky sense of humour and full of jokes.
