BRUSH up on the classic words to the nursery rhyme Old Mother Hubbard as you will want to join in during Noosa Arts Theatre’s coming production of the much loved pantomime, commencing on 2 January.
Accomplished director Susan Dearnley once again creates a kaleidoscope of enchanting scenes where fantasy and wonder come to life interspersed with toe-tapping music.
With 29 actors ranging in age from 5 years to 69 years and, of course, a dog Susan skilfully harnesses a breadth of talent to deliver original fun-filled family magic.
The ageless pantomime is the story of Old Mother Hubbard (Lorraine Bates), the proprietor of the local orphanage which is struggling to keep open. The future of the orphanage becomes even bleaker when Squire Farquhar (Bruce Campbell) becomes her landlord, courtesy of Demon Evil (Frank Wilkie), and threatens Old Mother Hubbard and her orphans with eviction. The only way to save the orphanage and the orphans is to allow her eldest orphan Polly (Gemma Ellis-Moore) to marry the Squire.
As Old Mother Hubbard prepares to leave the orphanage to protect Polly from a loveless marriage, Fairy Floss (Jane Rivers) convinces the Squire to face this awful loss, turning him against Demon Evil, forcing him out of town.
The orphanage is saved and in true pantomime style, Polly ends up marrying her handsome Prince (Jayden Lee).
Children and adults alike will be mesmerised by this traditional, fast moving and visually splendid production featuring ageless well-loved songs.

Performances will be held on Saturday 2, 9 and 16 January at 11am and 2pm, and on Sunday 3, 10 and 17 January at 1pm and 4pm.
