IT WAS all pain with lots to gain as SPM Law partner Jed McNamara ran the half-marathon at the Noosa Ultimate Sports Fest to help raise funds for Sunshine Butterflies.
The 21-kilometre fund-raising run was part of the law firm’s monthly charity drive that aims to raise funds for a different local charity each month.
This month, $340 was raised for Sunshine Butterflies, who focus on providing support for people with a disability and their families.
Sunshine Butterflies’ Leanne Walsh said it was great to see local business helping out.
“As a not-for-profit charity that receives no government funding, we rely on the generosity of our local community,” she said.
Along with Mr McNamara’s run, the SPM Law team donate to the monthly charities through casual dress days as well as encouraging clients to donate, in lieu of the normal fee for witnessing documents, for example.
SPM Law partner Michael Sobey said he was proud to be part of such a community-minded team.
“The team is always very enthusiastic when deciding on the next local charity to support and love to come up with new ways to fund-raise,” he said.
Mr Sobey said the team was always happy to hear about any local charities that might need a hand – simply email sroughley@spmlaw.com.au to make a suggestion.
Next month’s charity is The Kylie Foundation, which raises funds to support United Synergies’ bereavement program.
