LOCAL small business owner Jess Glasgow has entered the elections race announcing this week he will run as a councillor in the 2016 elections.
At 33 years old, Mr Glasgow is one of the youngest candidates in this year’s electoral race and said he plans to bring a “new energy” to the Council.
Mr Glasgow said his main focus would be creating innovative business opportunities by supporting low impact technology and knowledge based local businesses whilst protecting Noosa’s identity.
“As a lifelong local resident I have seen firsthand how Noosa has evolved but I want to make sure we protect our natural assets by protecting the current planning scheme,” he said.
“The message that I hear constantly from locals is that they don’t want to see economic growth at the cost of losing our quality of lifestyle and environment. “
Mr Glasgow also said supporting local sporting events, eco-tourism and the expanding agricultural industry would be a top priority.
“With a lower Australian dollar, now is the time to be strengthening our tourism and events industry to boost visitor numbers to our region.”
The Tewantin local is a current member of the Cooroy Pomona Lions Club and co-founder of new organisation Koala’s in Noosa Foundation.
Mr Glasgow said he plans to bring innovative ideas and new energy to the Council and is committed to being a strong voice for locals.
