TOURISM COLUMN FROM CEO OF TOURISM NOOSA DAMIEN MASSINGHAM

NOOSA’S calendar of events kicks off this weekend with the Noosa Summer Swim taking place on Noosa Main Beach offering a range of distances for every ability including the new 3km marathon distance, a chance for seasoned swimmers to push their limits.
Join sporting and celebrities including Michael Klim, Libby Trickett, Andrew Lauterstein and Deano from Bondi Rescue on the beach. The Noosa Summer Swim is in its third year and this weekend will extend to two days with Stretch Yoga with Kat Harding on Sunday morning (two sessions), followed by a Milk and Co. Active Club with Michael Klim at 8am.
The Festival of Surfing takes place in March and celebrates the 25th anniversary of this great event with eight days of surfing with more than 30 divisions including longboard, shortboard, finless, stand-up paddle boards, dog surfing and body surfing for ages from under-15 to over-70.
Competitors and spectators come from around the world to compete in and watch one of the most popular events on the global surfing calendar. In addition to the perfect, peeling waves of First Point, the festival offers a unique entertainment “village” right on the sand in front of the break, with licensed bar and food, live music and movies nightly, and a surf expo featuring the latest in surfboards and surfwear.
Events such as these are supported by Tourism Noosa via our event sponsorship strategy as events provide great reasons for visitors to visit Noosa outside of the traditional school and peak holiday times.
