Dine whine whipped up

By MEGAN OGLE

AN ONLINE petition calling for council to allow a local business to trade seven nights a week until midnight has gained over 839 signatures within a day.
The Change.org petition calls for supporters of “local small business, late night dining options and the growth of Noosa Junction” to add their name to the petition in the hope of swaying council’s decision regarding outdoor dining restrictions after noise complaints were received by council.
“With the support of the local community and out loyal patrons, we hope to rally the Noosa Council to support late night dining in an area zoned for such trade,” the petition states.
“Noosa Junction is deemed the business centre of Noosa, so let’s encourage Noosa Council to support local small business.”
Supporters of the petition left comments naming the tourist hot spot “Nanny Noosa” and calling for support of local businesses.
“Village Bicycle has been an important part of Noosa Junction’s growth,” one supporter writes.
“It has a welcoming environment for all ages and should not have trade restriction.”
“Let Noosa Junction and Village Bicycle thrive and grow.”
