Women rock the stage

Backstage shenanigans: The cheeky Cherry Ripes with Cara Robinson, Renae Suttee, Annie J, Maddie Suttee and Angelique.

LOCAL women rocked the stage at the annual fund-raiser to celebrate International Women’s Day.
The J played host to the Local Women Rock concert on Tuesday 8 March, which showcased the best local female artists and raised funds for a local women’s shelter.
MC Cherry Bright said the audience was awash with green and purple, the colours of the suffragettes, and were greeted by the Steel Mamas at the door.
“The show was absolutely fabulous and the crowd knew they were in for a great fun-filled afternoon as soon as they walked in,” Ms Bright said.
“We were entertained by talented women from start to finish.”
The show was opened by 12-year-old singer Angelique Turner who was followed by an even younger singer, eight-year-old Madeleine Suttee.
Audiences were also treated to the divine vocals of Cara Robinson and Andrea Kirwin, as well as a hilarious comedy act by The Cherry Ripes.
The show rounded off with a fabulous dance performance by Burlesque L’Amour, which features dancers aged between 20 and 80.
