NOOSA Masters Swim Club was represented by 25 swimmers at the Albany Creek Masters Swim Meet on 9 April. This traditionally has been where Noosa sends a large contingent, as this coincides with the sad passing of esteemed president Pat Mooney on 5 April 2013.
Each year since, Barry and Caroline Giles from Hinter – Coast Transport, have provided a bus and driver to transport our team to Albany Creek.
This year saw a high level of participation with 230 swimmers from 24 clubs including 12 metropolitan Brisbane clubs, plus some having to travel long distances from as far as Grafton, Toowoomba and Townsville.
The competition was fierce with 14 Queensland State records and three National records broken. Congratulations to all 25 Noosa swimmers who amassed 1215 points to win the aggregate point score from host club, Albany Creek, 12 points behind with 32 swimmers on 1203 and Miami Masters, Gold Coast, with 983 points.
Noosa individual age group medallists include Stephanie Jones and Geoff Lander taking home the gold. Also, Julie Dunstall, Helen Malar, Jan Croft, Ian Tucker, Bob Morse and Joe Gilbert were awarded silver. And Jana Clancy, Clinton Stanley, Ian Robinson and Rob Jolly took out the bronze.
Good luck to the 14 Noosa swimmers competing in the Australian Masters Championships in Melbourne from 21 to 24 April.
