Threatened with firearm

A MAN is assisting police with their inquiries following an incident in Coolum Tuesday night (19 April) involving a firearm.
According to police, a man attended a Centenary Heights Road address around 10.30pm and threatened a woman with a firearm before fleeing the scene in a four-wheel drive.
Police subsequently located the vehicle at a Gweneth Road, Peregian Beach, home and commenced a search which police say revealed a number of suspicious items inside the home and in the vehicle.
Three people were safely removed from the home, but the man they were looking for was not there. Specialist officers are examining the scene to determine the nature of the items.
A small exclusion zone around the home was established and a declaration was made under the Public Safety Preservation Act around 11.43pm for the area between Lake Vista Drive, Lakeshort Place, Mary Ann Drive and Emu Mountain Road.
Around 9.20am today, police attended the same Centenary Heights Road address in Coolum as they visited last night and took a man into custody.
Investigations are continuing.
Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24 hours a day.
