ENDEAVOUR Foundation’s Wallace Park Learning and Lifestyle is set to showcase local musicians with an intellectual disability in the annual Battle of the Bands event.
Endeavour Foundation Wallace Park Learning and Lifestyle Support and Operations Manager Julie Elford said the annual competition would be hosted by the service and held at ‘The J’ at 60 Noosa Drive, Noosa Heads, on Wednesday 25 May.
“This is a competition open to any bands that have a majority of the members with an intellectual disability,” Ms Elford said.
“This is the third year we have hosted the event and after our two previous years’ successes we can’t wait to see more local hidden talent show off their musical flair.”
Ms Elford said the Battle of the Bands is a celebration of everyone’s abilities and talents and is a way to develop musical ability and provide people with an environment to be creative and one in which people feel comfortable to share their gifts with like-minded people.
Rick Fairley, who accesses services from the Wallace Park Centre and competed in the last two years’ events, said: “I am looking forward to participating again this year.
“I’ve been practicing a lot and can’t wait to get up on stage and sing again.”
All bands will receive a critique and appraisal from judges at the end of the event.
The critique will be celebrating technical ability, musicianship, song-writing, stagecraft and audience engagement.
