STUDENTS from Noosaville, Eumundi and North Arm are singing, dancing and strumming their way towards a share in a $30,000 prize pool as part of Sunshine Plaza’s 2016 Breakthru School Music and Dance Competition.
Twenty local primary and secondary schools from across the Sunshine Coast are battling it out as part of the region-wide competition being held at the Riverwalk Stage this month.
Noosa District State High School student Nicola Hewitt has already been selected as the Judges’ Vote Winner for Heat Two, securing a highly coveted spot in the grand final to be held on 18 June.
Sunshine Plaza centre manager Michael Manwaring said the annual competition, now in its third year, was running over four weekends and would showcase the talents of more than 400 local students.
“Whether it’s a music performance from the Good Shepherd Lutheran College Maroon Band or a dance offering from The Ronnettes at Noosa District State High School, I have no doubt the quality of all the performances will be extremely high,” he said.
Breakthru School Music and Dance Competition is held at The Riverwalk Stage at Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore every Saturday until 18 June, with members of the public invited to watch the performances. To find out more or view the list of participating schools visit www.sunshineplazabreakthru.com.
