Getting set for surfing festival

THE Noosa Festival of Surfing will return in 2017 with the official dates for next year’s festival locked in.
The Laguna Real Estate Noosa Festival of Surfing will return from 4 to 11 March 2017.
Laguna Real Estate will sponsor the event for a second consecutive year, as well as Cafe Le Monde who has been officially crowned as the entertainment sponsor for the event.
Tourism Noosa has also continued their sponsorship of the event for another year.
The annual event was first established in 1992 by members of the Noosa Malibu Club as an amateur surfing competition called the Noosa Malibu Classic.
The competition was so popular that it grew quickly, and by 1996 a professional division was introduced and prompted the name change to The Noosa Festival of Surfing in 1998.
The World Tandem Surfing Championships were brought to Noosa in 1999 and Stand up paddle surfing was incorporated into the Festival in 2007 with live entertainment and fund-raising auctions also being held.
Now, over two decades old, the festival is bigger than ever and attracts record crowds to Noosa annually.
