All for love of animals

A local volunteer is shining a light on disadvantaged animals with a lantern-making course set to raise much-needed funds.
Eumundi Rotary member Bronwyn Innes is running a 10-week lantern-making course, starting Saturday 3 July, and is calling on the community to get their hands dirty to help out local charities.
“A love of animals and their care has led me to this workshop,” Ms Innes said.
“I formerly lived in Bundaberg and did a lot of fund-raising for the RSPCA in the form of community bike rides, among other support functions. I was also on the first committee to establish a refuge in Bundaberg over 35 years ago.
“I have been living here for four years now, and have established a network to enable me to start fund-raising again.”
All funds raised through the workshops will go towards assisting the RSPCA Eumundi Wildlife Centre and Noosa Animal Care Centre as well as Friends of the Hound.
“I have filled one course already, but hope to fill them all leading up to the bush dance that the Eumundi Rotary are currently organising for Saturday 10 September to raise funds for the three animal care groups,” Ms Innes said.
“The bush dance will be the first community function we are having under our banner. We hope to run a community function each year for various community groups to help them promote what they do and to hopefully assist them in whatever way we can.”
The workshops will be held at the Eumundi Rural Fire Service shed in Eumundi from 9am until 4pm. The course is $85 with all materials provided and includes morning tea. For further information, or to book your place, phone 0412 426 476.
