Kin Kin is looking good

By JOLENE OGLE

KIN KIN is on the way up, according to locals who have banded together to boost the Hinterland town’s profile as a tourist destination.
Local Anita Poteri said the town is working towards becoming a must-see destination in the Noosa Country Drive circuit; a “quirky” tourist town for lovers of all things local.
Launched by Tourism Noosa in December last year, the Noosa Country Tourist drive links tourists with the charming hinterland towns of the shire through suggested drives with Kin Kin forming a major part of the recommended northern loop drive.
Anita said Kin Kin was growing, offering more activities and accommodation to visitors such as local alpaca farms, horse riding trails, boutique bed and breakfast accommodation and bike trails.
“We can sleep up to 40 people in Kin Kin now,” Anita said. “You can even bring your horse and camp on the Kin Kin oval for $10 per night.”
Anita said the Kin Kin community spirit was alive with the local General Store now stocking a range of local products and produce from farms in the area that visitors can buy.
“There’s an influx of pumpkins at the moment, so the Kin Kin General Store is stocking local produce that visitors can buy and take home with them,” she said. “There’s also the famous Kin Kin Naturals range and Kin Kin Teas.”
Kin Kin is just a 30-minute drive from Noosa Heads and just 15 minutes from Cooroy.
