PEREGIAN Beach Park will be fun central on Sunday 21 August as it hosts the 28th annual Barefoot in the Park in celebration of Under Eights Week.
Held alongside the Peregian Markets from 9am-11.30am, the annual community event and fund-raiser is hosted by Peregian Beach Community Kindergarten and honours all the fun of being a child and learning through play.
The celebration has been going since 1988, and features lots of free fun for the kids – dream catcher making, clay modelling, bubble blowing and the chance to explore a police car and ambulance.
For just a small fee, children will be able to participate in the animal farm, have their face painted, or enjoy a small treat from the cake stall. Co-director of the centre, Lisa Stanley, said that the staff looked forward to this event every year.
It a great way to catch up and reminisce with past kindy families as well as meeting future families, while also building stronger connections with the local community.
“The staff thoroughly enjoy the experience, having the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate children being “under eight”, as well as connecting with so many families in the area on the day,” she said.
“It is such a heart-warming experience, and each year we get such positive feedback from the families who attend, and the local community. It is a wonderful way to bring us all together and have fun!”
Located in Rufous Street, the Peregian Beach Community Kindergarten has been nurturing young children in partnership with families since 1982, and prides itself on providing an environment that cherishes the fun-loving and inquisitive nature of children and their unique personalities.
