Grandma hits the catwalk

Augustine just opened their first Australian store on Hastings Street.

SENIORS will be on show for Senior’s Week this Friday night when 78-year-old Margaret Fletcher takes to the catwalk for The Powerhouse fashion show.
The fashion show will be held at the Boathouse Noosa, and will help raise funds for Noosa’s first child-friendly co-working space.
Margaret will be one of 11 models strutting their stuff for the fund-raising event with clothing provided by high-end New Zealand label, Augustine, who have just opened their first Australian store on Hastings Street.
Event organiser, The Powerhouse founder and Margaret’s granddaughter Aimee Sheriff said her grandma had always been a little mischievous.
“She’s always up for an adventure, and I just love that about her,” she said. “Even as she ages, her zest for life and adventure has not faltered.
“We talked about her modelling as a joke, and she joked back that she would do it and that was that. It really wasn’t hard to twist her arm. I just admire that she will give anything a go. She is truly an inspiration at 78 years old.
“With her walking stick and all, she will be strutting her stuff down the catwalk dressed also in Augustine, which is also a credit to the Brand that all women can wear their clothes.”
Margaret said age should never stop anyone from doing anything and she couldn’t wait to support her granddaughter and represent Seniors’ Week on the catwalk.
“I’ve never done anything like this before, but there’s a first time for everything,” she said.
“I’ve driven a Porsche, I’ve played the didgeridoo, gone skiing, ridden a fire truck, and been on a rollercoaster, which was over way too quickly, so I got back on again but made sure I kept my mouth shut in case I lost my teeth,” she said.
Tickets are on sale for the fashion show, presented by The Powerhouse and local woman’s group Life Beyond 30, that will be held at the Boathouse Noosa on Friday 12 August from 6pm.
Tickets are $45 per person and include canapes and champagne on arrival plus a night of entertainment. Visit www.noosaboathouse.com.au/events for more information or to book tickets.
