Prostate message in the post

IT’S usually the postman riding a postie bike, but next week it will be 12 intrepid motorcyclists who will roll into town on the classic red bike.
The motorcyclists are travelling more than 4700kms from Hobart to Cairns along the east coast of Australia and will stop regularly to speak to community groups about men’s health issues as well as raise funds along the way.
The Rotary Noosa Daybreak club will host the 12 travellers at the Noosa Men’s Shed on Tuesday 30 August from 4pm with a barbecue.
Everyone is invited to come along and meet the Riding Posties for Prostate team which will help raise awareness of men’s health issues and much needed funds to dramatically improve specific medical outcomes for men.
The riders are supporting the Australian Prostate Cancer Centre which hopes to purchase non-invasive prostate and bladder inspection cameras, and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia for much needed research.
Prostate cancer survivor and Rotarian Malcolm McGinn has championed the fundraising campaign.
He and his team of riders have already managed to gather an impressive amount of community support for the ride, with a significant amount already both pledged and raised through the sponsoring Claremont Rotary Club of Tasmania.
Once the Riding Posties for Prostate riders arrive in Cairns their trusty bikes will be auctioned off.
Anyone can keep track of the campaign and make donations on the team’s Facebook page by following the Donate link.
