Planned burn to reduce forest fuels

THE Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will conduct a planned burn on the corner block bordered by Beckmans Road, Noosa/Cooroy Road and the Wooroi day-use area on 31 August 2016, weather permitting.
The burn will be part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.
They have warned that the areas surrounding Tewantin, Noosaville, Doonan and Tinbeerwah were likely to be affected by smoke, which can decrease visibility on the roads, and it was important that motorists drive safely to the conditions.
The aim of this burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas which will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.
