Nippers learn water (and life) skills

Sign-on day is approaching for Sunshine Beach Surf Club Nippers.

NIPPERS is more than a sport, it helps teach your kids the most important skill of all – how to save a life – and it’s time for this year’s sign-on for the Sunshine Beach Surf Club Nippers program.
Nippers is a summer sport designed to teach your children about surf safety, keeps them healthy and improves their swimming, board paddling and beach fitness, but most importantly, Nippers trains young kids to save lives in the ocean.
Sunshine Beach Surf Club offers a Nippers (junior lifesavers) program which runs over the summer months October to March.
They are holding a sign-up and pool swim day on Saturday 3 September at the Noosa Aquatic Centre from 9am-3pm.
Children aged between 6 and 13 years old as of 1 October are eligible to join in this season.
All activities are age-specific, so the younger kids start off with beach activities, shallow water play and fun games, while the older kids are given surf and board skills along with resuscitation and surf survival techniques.
All water activities are conducted with qualified, water safety staff on hand.
Nippers is for active, fun, healthy kids, and those who love the beach and the outdoors and will help you and your kids get involved in your local surf lifesaving club where friends are made for life.
