Road safety operation blows in

OPERATION Northern Typhoon launched last week as part of Road Safety Week to provide a highly visible presence of police across the northern Sunshine Coast region.
Senior Sergeant Peter Feldman said that although offences were low, a zero result is what police were aiming for.
During 22 and 23 August police carried out 1279 random breath tests with three positive drink drivers caught and 23 drug tests with one positive result.
The state-wide campaign included regions north of the Maroochy River and focused on areas where frequent incidents occur.
With 36 tickets issued and eight criminal offences, police said the campaign aimed to get the message out that they were making a concerted effort to reduce road trauma.
