MEMBERS, stakeholders and the Tourism Noosa Board held their four yearly conference on Tuesday to discuss the Noosa Sustainable Destination Action Plan, and the future is looking bright for the region.
Members had their say on directions for the industry over the next five years with a purpose to guide sustainable tourist development and destination management in Noosa.
Tourism Noosa CEO Damien Massingham said statistics showed there was a steady increase.
“We are really looking at four key areas. Marketing and Events, Industrial Development and Sustainability,” Mr Massingham said.
The current SDAP which has guided our vision from 2013-2016 has aimed to develop tourism in Noosa that is both sustainable and profitable for the industry.
The plan has been successfully delivered, as tourism dollars are increasing across the region.
“We receive $716 million a year from tourists visiting Noosa, and we want to make sure we continue to target the right markets,” Mr Massingham said.
Priorities and actions in the SDAP were the result of input and feedback that started with a Members’ Forum in 2012.
Tuesdays conference looked ahead to where Noosa wants to be in five years’ time and focused on the plan for 2017-2020.
Tourism Noosa was pleased to announce a new partnership for the delivery of the 2017 Noosa Food and Wine Festival on 18-21 May.
After a comprehensive selection process, creative services and events business Under One Roof has been awarded the licence to operate the Noosa Food and Wine Festival.
The full Action Plan will be released in 2017.
