Artist’s show of feathered friends

BIRDS of a feather flock together and artist Erica Evans is inviting all fellow bird lovers to join her in celebrating the magnificent creatures.
“I regard birds as companions. I couldn’t imagine a world without birds,” she said.
Erica’s solo exhibition is titled Companions and will be held at the Pomona Railway Station Gallery from Saturday 15 October, with the grand opening at 11am, and will run until 15 November.
Although Erica enjoys a variety of subjects most of her current work reflects her love of birds, many of which inhabit the local area. Erica said she was inspired by the Australian landscape and her observations of the daily lives of birds.
“I want my paintings to tell their story and bring into focus the beauty and value of these beautiful creatures,” she said.
“They are with us every day. Whether they are raucously flying overhead, waking us up with their songs or visiting the bird bath, they live beside us and are an endless source of fascination for me.”
Erica completed a Diploma of Fine Arts in 2009 at the Noosa TAFE Campus, has exhibited in group exhibitions and has won several awards including Best in Show at the Noosa Regional Gallery Taste of Art Exhibition in 2015.
Pomona Railway Station Gallery is open seven days a week. The hours are 10am to 4pm from Monday to Friday, and 10am to 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. For more information about the gallery and current exhibitions, phone 5485 2950.
