THE Noosa Surf Film Festival will be launched tonight at the J for three days of art, live music, good vibes and, of course, films from all around the world.
The program kicks off with an opening event on Thursday 6 October at 6pm which includes a screening of ‘Gathering Dust’ by local legend Jake Donlen and ‘A Day Late and A Dollar Short’- A film by Ben Cregan about an original punk surfer, Dale Egan.
This feature length film includes bonus Super 8 footage and a live set by blues rockers, The Desert Sea from Sydney.
NSFF will back up last year’s sold out event with five awesome screenings including more than 20 films from 13 countries.
Spectators can enjoy documentaries, narratives, experimental, shorts and feature films such as the NSFF16 Art Show opens tonight which includes artists from Noosa and abroad.
All pieces will be for sale and artists include Matt Cuddihy, Kane Brown, Amanda Lewis, Matthew Wigglesworth, Aaron Godina and Jake Donlen.
Live music sets by Shannon Sol Carroll from Band of Frequencies and The Desert Sea tonight, Zac Gunthorpe and FELIVAND with Rhian Cruice on Friday night and Jesse Taylor on Saturday night.
There will also be food on site by The Van Fine Street Food for tonight and Friday, with Maribelle’s Street Food looking after Saturday night.
The NSFF were absolutely blown away by the support and enthusiasm in 2015 and are stoked to make it bigger and better for their second year in 2016.
The main objective is to celebrate surf lifestyle and local talent over an epic couple of days, and with plenty of live music, food, drinks there is sure to be a great vibe.
Whether you’re a surfer or not, these films will make you want to explore the world, protect our oceans and beaches and make the most of everyday.
